  • 80% of students participating in SFUSP projects at elementary, middle and high schools reported increased community leadership.

  • 85% of Corps members indicated in quarterly reports an increase in the initiative and leadership responsibility of students

  • Partner site staff  surveys indicate an increase in initiative and leadership responsibility of over 70% of  youth involved in USP projects.

  • In teacher focus groups, over 85% of teachers reported an increase in student’s classroom engagement due to Corps Member projects and programs.

  • Pre and post test student surveys indicate a 75% increase in leadership responsibility and a 80% increase in classroom engagement over the course of the school year.

  • Over 90% of Corps Members utilized their SFUSP experience to continue on to careers in education, youth development, community activism, and other social services.

  • USP helped develop a sister program in Belfast, Ireland in March of 2003.  Over the past three years, USP has worked to create a strong international partnership with Springboard, a youth serving non-profit organization in Belfast, Ireland.  Believing in the power of our program model to unite the long divided religious communities within Belfast, Springboard developed their own Urban Service Project which hires and trains young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and places them to serve youth at local community agencies.
